Our Traditional Smoking Process

Our smoked catfish is processed entirely on-farm at our Rigacikun facility using a two-stage traditional smoking method that delivers authentic flavour and a safe shelf life without preservatives or additives.

First, freshly harvested catfish are gutted, cleaned, and air-dried for 12 hours. They are then slow-smoked over hardwood for 6–8 hours at controlled temperatures, sealing in moisture and natural oils while eliminating harmful bacteria. The result is a deeply flavoured, firm-textured smoked catfish that holds up well in soups, stews, and as a standalone protein.

Our process complies with food safety best practices. Each batch is date-stamped and packaged in clean, sealed bags. We do not use artificial smoke flavouring or chemical preservatives of any kind.

2. Hardwood Smoking

6–8 hours of slow-smoking over hardwood — no chemicals, no shortcuts.

Shelf Life & Storage

Shelf Life: 7 days at room temperature

Properly stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Room Temperature (up to 7 days)

Store in a cool, well-ventilated area. Keep sealed in original packaging until use. Avoid direct sunlight or humid environments.

Refrigerated (up to 14 days)

Storing smoked catfish in the refrigerator extends shelf life up to 2 weeks. Wrap tightly to prevent moisture absorption.

Frozen (up to 3 months)

Freeze in airtight bags for long-term storage. Thaw in the fridge overnight before use. Quality is well-preserved after freezing.

Wholesale & Carton Orders

Jannah Farms welcomes carton orders from market traders, food vendors, restaurant suppliers, and resellers across Kaduna State. Orders of 10 kg or more qualify for wholesale pricing, and we can arrange regular weekly supply contracts for consistent buyers.

Our smoked catfish is supplied in clean, sealed packaging labelled with production date, best-before date, and weight. Custom packaging is available for resellers with a minimum order of 50 kg.
